New Years on the High Plains By Bob Mitzel

Another year has come and gone, it is now 2011. I had the pleasure of spending the waning moments of 2010 with my wife and some friends. It seems amazing the many emotions and thoughts that run through my mind at that point.

The end of 2010 means another year added to all those going before that gave no clear resolution or even direction to the problems that are troubling our country. It means the end of another year that our movement is no closer to being a cohesive powerful factor in our countries history the way that our forefathers movement did. We are so scattered in our thoughts and desires that we cannot all get into step together. The patriot movement as a whole needs to put aside all the differing goals and start focusing on one goal. I see one goal that must be accomplished before any others even have a chance. We must see a return to the Constitutional form of government that our forefathers fought, shed their blood, and died for. The form of government that was their legacy to us, they had the wisdom and foresight to set up a form of government that would be controlled by the free citizens of the country they founded. A government that was second to the states governments so that it did not become a huge juggernaught controlled by a select class of people that were concerned only for thier personal gain. This however is what we have allowed the federal government to become. We have done this in my humble opinion by our APATHY, our LAZINESS, our CONCEIT, and the fact that we have set back like sheep waiting for slaughter and DONE NOTHING. We have set back and done nothing while we have been stripped of our rights one piece at a time, we have set back and accepted the supposed fact that we need the government to take care of us, to make decisions about what is best for us and our children, to tell us what we can eat, what we can drink, what we can talk about. Yes reader, the government does tell us what we can talk about, try going to your childs school and discuss religion, for that matter just try to recite the Lords Prayer in school. You will find out real fast that freedom of speech while not totally eliminated (or you would not be reading this) is slowing becoming very restricted. Your children are limited about what they are allowed to know about our founding fathers, but do you sit down and talk with them about our history, to explain to them the blood that was shed that they should have the right to be free at this time, or do you wring your hands and say woe is me, there is nothing I can do I am only one person. These injustice must be addressed and they must be addressed now.
The way we need to proceed in my opinion is best stated by my friend and partner in the Bob and Bob show is "We must Make RESISTANCE a habit" we must resist every day the injustices that are done to us and our families. For those that cringe at the word resistance, resistance need not be always violent, resist when your school board wants to make the annual Christmas party a "Winter holiday party". Resist when your elected representatives vote contrary to what your beliefs are, when they tell you they must vote thier conscience, remind them no, do not remind, state to them in no uncertain terms that they are not there to vote thier conscience, they are thier to vote as thier constituents want. A Prime example of our representatives voting "thier conscience" happened this past year. I am speaking of the Health Care Bill that they politicians decided we had to have in spite of the fact that over 70% of the country did not want it. When this happened, did you call your Senator and Representative and voice your outrage, or did you sit meekly on your couch and tell your wife and friends that would listen, how those damn politicians did it again. Did you go to thier office, write a letter, send a fax, if you did none of the above other than complain to anyone else that would listen, you deserve what you get.
Did you get off the couch and go vote in primary and general election in November, or did you use the time worn excuse that you only have one vote so what does it matter. Let me tell you, it matters a lot, a local race in my county was decided by ONE VOTE. If you multiply your one vote by all the others that sit and say it is only one vote, there are thousands of votes that are never cast, and those could change history!!!!!!! Your vote DOES count and does make a difference. The first thing I ask a person that starts complaining to me is "did you Vote?", if they say no I tell them to hit the road I don't want to hear it. If they cannot take the time to cast a vote to make a difference, why should I waste my time listening to them complain that nothing has changed. These are just some of the thoughts that ran through my head during the transition from 2010 to 2011. So now I will look forward to things that could come about in 2011. we are not only starting a new year, we are starting a new decade. Last night was very cold in Roswell, only about 14 degrees while we were outside, The sky was beautiful, crystal clear with millions and millions of stars looking down on our heads. It was a very humbling experience to be looking at the vastness of God's creation and once again realizing just how small and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things! However in our part of this fabulous universe, on our small planet, and in our own country on that planet, we do not have to be small and insignificant! We each have the opportunity in the coming year and decade to make a very significant difference in our lives and the lives of not only our family and friends, but of thousands and possibly millions of people that we have never even met. We have the possibility to make our politicians return to the type of government our forefathers envisioned. We have the opportunity to become a force to be reckoned with if they don't want to return our country to its rightful path and position of greatness in the world. We have the power to band together and work together, to forge ourselves into a massive force that will insure that our children and grandchildren have the same freedoms for them that our forefathers gave to us. Will this be easy? No, it will not, BUT nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Nothing given free and requiring no effort to keep is worth having. Regaining our country and regaining our God given rights will not be easy. It will be a struggle and maybe even turn into something we have to fight for! It will require sacrafice, it will require dedication, it will require loyalty, it will require blood sweat and tears, but our freedom has never been cheap, thousands of patriots have given thier lives to make sure that our freedom is insured. Will we now turn our backs on the sacrafice and blood given freely by those that came before us because it is inconvienent or requires some small sacrafice by us to recover and maintain what they paid for with thier blood and lives? I for one think that any inconvience I suffer is very small against what others have suffered for all of us. I have never left bloody footprints in the snow walking to battle with half frozen feet with no shoes to protect them as others have, I have never had to lay in a freezing foxhole with out proper clothes to preserve our freedoms as others have, I have never suffered with malaria and other diseases in jungles around the world to protect our freedoms as others have! What inconvience can I claim that would even compare to what others have given. We are the most spoiled and inconsiderate people that have ever populated the United States. We believe it is the Governments job to take care of us. We as a people have forgotten what it means to take pride in our country, we have a President that apologizes to the world for our greatness. Where was the shout of outrage when that happened, why did I not hear the news casters screaming at the top of thier lungs, and when that did not happen, why did I not hear the citizens screaming in indignation???? I hope that by the end of 2011, I with all the other Patriots in our country, can look back and see a membership nationwide of affiliated groups standing tall and proud shoulder to shoulder with each other. Strong in mind and body, united in thought and action, all looking to the same goal. Because when we manage to regain our country, we can then start to work on the different goals that are important to each local group, but until we are focused on the constitution, and have regained our country, all the other issues are a moot point. We must have the common goal in hand first to achieve the others. I repeat my earlier sentiment of hoping by the end of this year to see a united group of patriots standing shoulder to shoulder across this great nation with the resolution, dedication, spirit and the knowlege that we will succeed!!!!!
May God Bless each of you in this new year and always.
